Fantasy Sports app Scorito has 1.2 million users, aims to conquer Europe

Scorito, Dutch market leader for soccer pools, receives an investment from Dutch Sport Tech Fund. This is the only fund in the Netherlands that focuses exclusively on startups and scale-ups that are involved in sports technology. The investment will be used to develop new business models and increase market share outside the Netherlands. The Dutch app now has 1.2 million users.

Fantasy Sports app is Dutch market leader

Friends, family and colleagues use Scorito to make pools for sporting events such as the Tour de France or the World Cup. Within the sports-tech domain this is known as Fantasy Sports. Scorito now has 1.2 million users, more than half of whom were active during the last European Football Championship. The company is active in several European countries, such as Belgium, Germany, Spain and England.

Martijn van Dijk, founder and CEO of Scorito: “We quickly saw a clear added value in this partnership with Dutch Sport Tech Fund. Our platform has proven itself in recent years and is easily scalable. This investment gives us the means to further scale up and realize international growth. Our goal is to become market leader in the European countries where we operate.”

Synergy benefits

Mark Snijders, Chief Investment Officer at Dutch Sport Tech Fund: “We are proud to add Scorito to our portfolio. The company has become market leader within the Fantasy Sports domain for good reason. We still see a lot of growth potential and hope to realize it together. In addition, there are clear synergy advantages with other holdings in our fund, from which Scorito and our other holdings benefit. One plus one is three in this case”.

Dutch Sport Tech Fund previously invested in Horizm, which helps Real Madrid and Chelsea, among others, to get more out of their digital channels. It also took a stake in Jogo.AI, which was recently sold to soccer platform 433. Other holdings include Zest.Golf, a platform for booking golf courses, and International Sports Group, whose software is used by more than 500 soccer clubs and federations.
